DICE has announced that they're holding a week long event to celebrate the Battlefield franchise's 10th year anniversary.
In a post on the Battlefield Blog, DICE revealed some of the things it has planned for the event. Now keep in mind that most of these pertain to Battlefield 1942. Understandable since that's the first-ever Battlefield game and the one that started it all.
Each day, until September 28, DICE will feature something new from the history of the series.
First off, DICE will be reposting one of the classic trailers from Battlefield 1942 with DICE Senior Video Producer Roland Smedberg providing commentary. If you want to download some of the remastered artwork from 1942, click here.
In addition, to help commemorate the launch of 1942, DICE is holding a Dog Tag Challenge in Battlefield 3's Wake Island map (You need the Back to Karkand expansion to participate). Wake Island is, of course, one of 1942's most popular maps. Players from the PC will compete against those from the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms to reach a specific number of game rounds on the map. DICE will announce further details on this challenge soon.
Also of note, veteran Battlefield developer Lars Gustavvson will be doing a livechat this coming Tuesday on Origin. Exact times of the event will be posted at a later date.
Lastly, DICE is holding a Battlefield Anniversary Sale. Every PC Battlefield game is now priced at $10 on Origin. Best to hurry though as the deal will only last until the midnight of September 20th. Unfortunately, DICE did not specify which territory this midnight pertains to. If I were you, just go to Origin and if it's at $10 there, then just go get it before the deal expires.
Congrats, DICE! May more Battlefields be in your future…and with Battlefield 4's beta slated for next year, I can imagine there will be!
