Developer Stoic has announced that Banner Saga 3 will be returning to Kickstarter to get the game funded. This title will be the finale in the three part trilogy.
The goal for Stoic is to reach $200,000. The core game will be provided by Stoic themselves, however, the Kickstarter money will go to the games extra features such as a new original soundtrack from composer Austin Wintory, professional animation studio work, pro sound design and voice-overs.
Check out a new trailer for the finale, alongside the official description of the game down below:
Banner Saga 3 concludes the tale. Steel your nerves, step forth into the approaching abyss. Cross the threshold from daylight without end into untold darkness. Warped lands within threaten your sanity, and a writhing wyrm tests your mettle. But here, in the darkness, is where secrets are brought to light and motives are made clear. Are your friends who they claim to be? They all look to you. What story will your banner tell?
Recently, Studio Founder John Watson sat down with GamesIndustry.biz and discussed the franchise’s future, and he made it very clear that they won’t leave the story “unfinished.”
“Is taking investor money gonna make the game sell? Is it gonna make it $1 million more profitable? No. It’ll make it a little bit better; we could spend some of that money maybe doing some more animations, maybe we increase the quality level a little bit. The quality has to reach a certain bar for people to accept it as a sequel, because we set that bar for ourselves. But beyond that it won’t really affect the profitability. It would be a vanity thing. We just want to make it better.”
“We have to do it. We set out to make this trilogy. We can’t leave the story unfinished.”
