It shouldn't come as a big surprise given the caliber of its developers and the expectations set by the previous game, but the release of Guild Wars 2 has been a success.
According to the game's developer ArenaNet, the preorders for the game have breached the one million mark, and over 400,000 players logged on concurrently to play the game over the game's early launch weekend.
"This is the culmination of a five-year journey and to be greeted by this level of enthusiasm by our fans is truly amazing," president and ArenaNet co-founder Mike O'Brien. "But really our work is just beginning. Now our focus is shifting to building on this living world we’ve delivered, continuously refining our game and improving services to ensure our players have the best possible experience."
For those who didn't preorder Guild Wars 2, the game will be launching today. The game is exclusive to the PC.
