Blizzard’s latest video game release, Overwatch, has proven to be popular with gamers all over the world. Developers consistently add in new hero type characters with their own unique attributes and abilities making gameplay fresh instead of forcing players to stick with a limited roster of characters. In fact, there’s even a big push to see Terry Crews voice an upcoming and unannounced character within the Overwatch universe.
Being such a popular and highly demanded video game title, there’s bound to be plenty of cheaters looking to sway match outcomes in their favor. Today, thanks to Venture Beat who has translated the official Blizzard Overwatch Korean forums, we’re finding out that over 100,000 users have been banned from the game.
The ban was aimed towards cheaters who use what is commonly known online as “nuking”. This is a cheat that sends an overwhelming amount of denial-of-service or otherwise known as DDOS, attacks which will cause online connection disruptions against their opponents.
“Creating and delivering a pleasant game environment for the majority of our rule-abiding players is of paramount importance to us, and we are committed to taking all the steps we can to stop players who create, distribute, and use these nuking programs.”
This won’t completely clean up the game from cheaters who use hacks and other means to raise through the ranks. Though Blizzard seems to be stepping up their game when it comes to security and taking care of those select users that ruin matches for other players.
