Tomb Raider was a big franchise back in the early days of the Sony PlayStation console and since then the entire franchise has been rebooted. Fans, for the most part, have taken to the new rebooted franchise as it put Lara Croft in the latest generation consoles. Fueled with solving mysteries and taking out opposing threats, some fans have found that while the reboots are fun to play, they lack some of the charm from the original series.
There’s a bit more incentive to take out the threats and less puzzle solving or tomb raiding in the latest releases. One fan group called Raiding The Globe has taken it upon themselves to look back and release a remaster of the original title, Tomb Raider 4: The Last Revelation.
So far, the video game does look quite impressive compared to the original when it released nearly two decades ago. Within the title, Lara Croft has unknowingly unleashed an evil God upon the world and must use all of her wit to once again, imprison the God back into a tomb before the world becomes destroyed.
“Tomb Raider 4: The Last Revelation HD allows players to experience Core Design’s original and unparalleled classic game remastered with sharper textures, higher quality objects, brand new effects (such as dynamic fogs, smoother shadows and high quality sprites), additional gameplay features and much more.
Experience Egypt like never before, walking (and running) through ancient tombs populated with fierce traps and deadly foes.”
Fan projects when it comes to video game IPs have been tricky in the past. While some IP owners find these projects delightful, just as long as no profit is made, there are others who quickly shut down fan made video game releases.
We’re not sure what will become of this HD remaster just yet, but in the meantime, take a look at some of the provided screenshots down below.
