Pokemon Go, The Most Downloaded App on iOS App Store in 2016

Since the Pokemon Craze first hit iPhones earlier last year, Pokemon Go has become ridiculously popular with people hosting events worldwide to come together to catch rare Pokemon or to run together to hatch eggs, or even just to trade. With all the downloads and searches for the app, it’s no suprise that Pokemon Go was Google’s top trending search term of 2016. But what was quite a suprise, is that Pokemon Go was also the most downloaded App on the iOS Store – despite only launching in July 2016.

Also high on the 2016 downloads list was Super Mario Run, Nintendo’s endless runner that brought Mario to mobile. It was among the top 10 apps worldwide and hit 40 million downloads in four days after its release.
