It never ceases to amaze me just what modders are able to bring into a video game title. From the ridiculous to a complete standalone campaign, there are all types of mods available for big triple AAA video game releases, especially those which are focused on an open world environment. For instance, the Grand Theft Auto franchise is no stranger to the modding community and today we’re learning of one team of modders that promises Grand Theft Auto V gamers Liberty City.
There have been rumors circulating online that suggest development team Rockstar was bringing back Liberty City in some shape or form in Grand Theft Auto V, but that has yet to officially be confirmed. Now it seems that modding team OpenIV is taking on the expansion themselves.
It’s unclear as to what their motivation is behind bringing the entire Liberty City location into Grand Theft Auto V. Some could speculate that it may be out of spite of Rockstar for their lack of offline DLC campaigns that were once featured in Grand Theft Auto IV. Instead, the developers have opted to work on DLC and game modes for Grand Theft Auto Online.
Regardless, this team of modders is committed and has released their first teaser trailer. Apparently, the mod, when released, will require gamers to have both Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V installed on their PC. Furthermore, there is a risk of gamers being banned from Grand Theft Auto Online for downloading the mod.
If this doesn’t sway you from going through with the mod download when it launches then you’ll easily open up your game world immensely. Unfortunately, it’s unknown if this team of modders will add on any additional game modes or campaigns that will make use of the new city and it’s unknown just when the mod will launch. For the meantime, take a look at the new teaser trailer for this upcoming mod up above.
