Above is a brand-spanking-new screenshot for Painkiller: Hell & Damnation, one of three featured in this post for the upcoming instalment of the Painkiller franchise, a biblical and bloody FPS with a cult following first released in 2004 and originally developed by People Can Fly.
But that's only half the good news: for those of you eagerly awaiting the opportunity to make hellspawn bleed red, the limited-access closed beta goes into effect today. Registrations for the horror FPS are now open here, and those of you who are blessed enough might be graced with a beta key. The beta will run until the day of release (as-yet unknown), and will allow players to preview the game as well as provide developer The Farm 51 with "much-valued feedback," according to a press release. Beta keys will be made available via Facebook, the official Painkiller forums and media partners over the next couple of weeks.
“We are very excited to open the Beta for selected users and are looking forward to the feedback sessions in our forum,” said Reinhard Pollice of Business and Product Development at publisher Nordic Games, adding, “The feedback from fans that played the original Painkiller is extremely important to us. It will give us a chance to interact with the community, as well as offering them exclusivity of being the first to play the game.”
Painkiller Hell & Damnation, a PC game powered by Unreal Engine 3, promises the "hardcore fast gameplay" of the original title. The beta will allow players to experience 5 game modes, including but not limited to Network Co-op, Single Player, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. It also features a special Feedback button that links to the Beta Forum so that players can directly leave commentary and criticism.
Happy demon-hunting!
