Could the image below be what the new PlayStation 3 will look like? If you didn't know, rumors were circulating a few weeks back that Sony was manufacturing another version of its home console which had the model numbers CECH-4000A and CECH-4000B.
The model numbers were outed by the a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing, which indicate that the new models would be the start of the "4000" series of PS3s. Currently, PS3 Slim models are numbered CECH-3000s.
While no details were available then, now it seems images of this forthcoming third revision of the PS3 has been leaked.
This leak comes from none other than the Brazilian's counterpart of the FCC (Anatel), and lucky for us, Brazilian tech blog Tecnoblog managed to scoop up the details (via NeoGAF)
First up, the file refers to model numbers CECH-4011A, CECH-4011B and CECH-4011C, with the HD sizes of 16GB (most likely a typo for 160GB), 250GB and 500GB respectively.
If you don't care for the model numbers, maybe you will for the images. The major difference seems to be a group of "ridges" of some sort placed on top of the original PS3's face.
Here's the front view:

It might be just me, but the ridges now make the PS3 look more like a grill than ever before.
Now, before you head on over to you retail and ask for this bad boy, keep in mind that this could be a very well-done Photoshop job. But it seems to be legit from what we know so far.
In any case, are you liking what you've seen so far or it doesn't really matter anyway since the PS4 is purportedly less than a year away?
