Put down the pitchforks, the re-released PC version of Final Fantasy VII will not have any form of downloadable content. The announcement that the new version will include a Character Booster had some people ready to march on Square Enix HQ, but it turns out that perhaps we were all a little too hasty in our vast, uncontrollable, completely justified anger.
"No, the Character Booster will not cost real money to use," Kotaku was told by a Square Enix rep. "We'll have final pricing info on the game to share soon, but we can confirm that there will be no microtransactions for the upcoming rerelease of Final Fantasy VII on PC."
Presumably then, there's just a button in the options menu that allows you to go ahead and cheat your way through. Perhaps a simple response to those who felt they couldn't finish the game in this day and age if it meant grinding for hours, although no doubt "expert" gamers are still slightly perplexed by the whole thing.
