While Capcom has already released Street Fighter X Tekken, people might have forgotten that the intial deal between the two publishers is that they'll each make a version of the crossover fighter.
Capcom released theirs first with Street Fighter X Tekken; where the Tekken cast duked it out on a 2D plane with Street Fighter's gameplay mechanics. Namco is developing their version now but they're bringing the Street Fighter roster to Tekken's 3D gameplay turf.
In saying all that, should people still expect it to come out this current console generation or will it be moved to next-gen?
Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada thinks that with the PS3 and Xbox 360's installed userbase at an all-time high, this makes the most sense to release it this gen, but admits they're not sure what's going to actually happen.
There's still a large number of players out there with a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 who are looking forward to the game. So we feel it's probably more relevant to get the title out to them on the current hardware
We're not completely sure, but that's the direction at this moment.
For reference, Tekken X Street Fighter was announced back in 2010 but has since remained off the grid.
What would you want to see in Tekken X Street Fighter? Can the Street Fighter characters work in a 3D plane? Hopefully they can, or we might have another Street Fighter EX on our hands.
Hopefully, we hear more about it at this year's Tokyo Game Show (TGS).
