Gamespot reports that Trond Arne Aas, CEO of Funcom, has announced that he will be stepping down, to be replaced by COO Ole Schreiner.
This announcement comes on the heels of anticipation for Secret World’s release, an upcoming modern-day MMO which is set to launch this week.
"The company's financial position is strong and the foundation of the company's long-term product and technology strategy is in place," stated Aas, who won’t be leaving the company completely. Rather, he will be taking on the role of a chief strategy officer and a strategic advisor to the board of directors. Aas will be actively involved in various projects including Funcom’s recently-announced Lego MMO.
"It feels like a very natural point in time for me to make the transition to a new and freer role in the company, but I will remain committed to the Company both as a major shareholder and as an employee,” he added.
