Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Expands with the Tau Empire DLC

September 29, 2016 by Nick Monroe

This new faction packs a long-range punch.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is an Unreal Engine 4 real-time strategy game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It pits the Imperial, Chaos, Eldar, and Ork factions against each other in an intergalactic war for dominance of the Gothic sector. That never-ending struggle just got a little bit bigger.

The Tau Empire DLC gives you access to the Tau as a playable faction in both Skrimish Mode, as well as the multiplayer modes for the game. They’re an alien race in a period of massive expansion, thanks to the help of their advanced technology. The Tau fleets are best utilized as long range units used from a distance, and if used right they can take out an enemy fleet from miles away. The ships are assigned castes that have specific roles. The Fire Caste is for close-range strategies, the Water Caste gets the ability to summon a Nicassar Dhow escort, the Air Caste has faster speed, while the Earth Caste is all about firepower, getting an Experimental Railgun and extra upgrade slot to better unleash damage on their adversaries. The Tau Warfare System gives special bonuses chosen during the deployment phase of battle: the Mont’Ka path outfits your forces with Battlesuits that reduce enemy troop value by 5 and boost the chance of destroying subsystems, while the Kauyon Path bumps up long-range accuracy by reduce the loss by 5% for every 3K units starting at a 6K units range. These new features give you some extra decisions to make during gameplay. People who bought the game during the Early Adopter phase will have the opportunity to download this add-on for free.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is available now for PC. To learn more about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
