The game known as Reus by Abbey Games was a successful god-simulator experience released on PC back in 2013. But the development team wanted to bring that experience to consoles, and teamed up with SOEDESCO to make it happen. The port is set to arrive next month in October. A new trailer was released recently to help jog the public’s memory of what Reus is like.
You play as the puppet-master of four powerful giants, who can manipulate the surface of the planet to create geographical features like oceans, mountains and forests. Humans populate the land, and the giants have the capacity to help them along, or crush them under their might. While that sounds cruel, it’s worth noting you don’t control what the humans do. Which means they could attack your giants first, if they grow paranoid with fear. The further you progress, the more upgrades you acquire. There’s over 100 different types of plants, minerals, and animals to play around with, so the idea of playing God stays interesting for a decent while.
“The controller interface got a lot of attention, and you notice that. Playing Reus from the couch is a great and smooth experience! We are very happy with how the port turned out and we are very excited for Reus‘ PS4 and Xbox One release,” said co-founder and technical lead at Abbey games, Bas Zalmstra.
Reus is available now on PC if you’re dying to try it out as soon as possible, but on October 11th you’ll be able to play it on your PS4 and Xbox One. To learn more about the game, check out the developer’s website, Twitter, and Facebook.
