Treyarch's director of technology, Cesar Stastny, confirmed via Twitter that Black Ops 2 will support dedicated servers on the PC.
Stastny simply tweeted, "Confirmed: Ranked Dedicated Servers for ‪#BlackOps2‬." I maintain that all good news is filtered through Twitter. Nothing like 140 characters to keep you honest.
Did you catch that? Ranked dedicated servers. If you aren't freaking out yet, you should be. This is the first time gamers will be able to play on ranked servers in a Call of Duty game. Ranking is a highly desired trait where shooter titles are concerned and one that has been noticably missing from the Call of Duty franchise. At least until now.
With the inclusion of ranked servers in Codblops2, players can accurately weigh themselves against others and matchmaking will become a much more mathematical process. Although it still won't protect you against those ridiculously skilled 12-year-olds.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be released on Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 on November 23, 2012. And that ever-important Wii U version is still in the making, but still lacking a release date.
