Resident Evil 7 in a lot of ways is different than the past few installments of the franchise. Capcom’s strong survival-horror IP had quickly become an action-oriented video game franchise which has left some of the original fans of the series dishearten and unsatisfied.
That seems to be changing with the latest upcoming installment, Resident Evil 7. The grand reveal for the latest title from Capcom’s IP came during this year’s E3 expo. Capcom seems to have gone all-in for a captivating atmosphere and one of the ways the developers are hoping will give gamers a new thrill is its first-person view.
Today, an ESRB rating was posted for Resident Evil 7 which gave out a few new little details for the video game. It’s worth noting that these details have since been taken down but confirmed accurate to Polygon.
Apparently, the main protagonist of Resident Evil 7 is named Ethan, who has wandered into a mansion in search of his wife. Ethan will have plenty of weapons to use against the undead such as pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives, and chainsaws, which will give gamers the capability to hack off limbs.
Since the listing details have since been taken down from the ESRB website, Polygon reached out to ESRB and was able to confirm that the listing was pulled by request of Capcom, but is accurate. So far there is no word on just when the listing will be published once again.
Gamers can pick up a copy of Resident Evil 7 when it hits store shelves on January 24, 2017, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
