Could an announcement regarding Diablo III appearing on consoles be revealed later at E3? While rumors regarding Diablo III for consoles has been circulating since last year, it has since gained steam with the fact that various retailers have listed the game's console version.
German retailer Redcoon has Diablo III listed for the PS3. While UK retailer Cool Shop has it listed for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Finally, there's also Play-Asia which has the game listed for the PS3, too.
Speculation is that the game might be coming its way to the PS3 rather than the Xbox 360. Of course, it's widely known that Activision, parent company of Blizzard, has a closer relationship with Microsoft rather than Sony. The deal breaker could be Microsoft's reluctance in allowing other platforms to appear on Xbox LIVE. This is also the same reason why Steam is on the PS3 and not on the Xbox 360.
Could Sony agreeing to implement Battle.net to the PSN be the deal breaker if this rumor rings true?
While this should be considered a rumor, do keep in mind that retailers almost always know in advance if a particular game is coming out. The publishers themselves relay the info for stocking/pre-order purposes and has since been the cause of many leaks.
Whatever the case may be, we won't have to wait long as E3 and the press conferences will take place later.
