The people who made Life is Strange decided to go for a badass Vampyr game next, set in the old world of London. The team took to Gamescom in order to showcase the ideas and premise they had planned for the title. But since everyone on the internet can’t go to Gamescom directly, Don’tNod has decided to pass along some pre-alpha footage to us at home.
So what’s Vampyr about? Dr. Jonathan Reid has become a vampire, and the game deals with his struggle that comes with his new identity. He learns that he needs to balance his urge to feed – if he holds it back too much he’ll end up becoming the monster he’s afraid of being. The video footage shows off a dialogue wheel type of conversation, our protagonist walking around the city a bit, and even a chance to show off his powers. Reid investigates a possible vampire attack nearby, showing that his skills as a doctor can also be useful as a detective too. After getting into a few combat scrapes, it’s time to see Reid go on the hunt. He’s able to analyze the blood quality of any possible victims. We pick a thug who has a sick boy at home, trying to talk him into letting us visit. When that fails, Reid grabs the guy’s face and forces him under a spell that let’s us manipulate our target more freely. Then our protagonist chows down on his meal.
Vampyr is coming out in 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. To see more about the game in the meantime, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
