Back in February 2015, the internet was graced with a Kickstarter project by Humanature Studios. Their mission was raising enough money to make a current generation ToeJam and Earl video game. They made their goal, and had been working away at it ever since. But now, we’ve recently received a video from the game’s new publisher, Adult Swim Games.. It’s a teaser trailer giving us an advanced look at the gameplay of ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove.
It’s certainly trying to throwback to the 90s video game entries in the series. The plot of the game is TJ and Earl borrow the Rapmaster Rocketship from their buddy Lamont in order to go on a joyride with Latisha and Lewanda. Distracted by their own antics, they press a big RED button that causes a black hole. The game has TJ and Earl trying to recover the pieces of their rocketship, coming across irrational beings and collecting power-ups from Santa along the way. The title will stay true to the earlier games in the series, but also include a host of new features to help mix it up a little. There will be nine playable characters, randomly generated levels and secret locations, plus co-op play and online play that supports up to 4 players.
ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove arrives in 2017 for PC and Console.
