Back when Resident Evil 7 Biohazard was announced, PS4 players got access to a special playable demo that took them inside a mysterious house in the woods. Part of the gameplay within that included living out moments of people on tape – those that were lucky enough to be filming the terrible things happening to them. In this new trailer for the game, that same “found footage” mechanic seems to be at work. But in a completely new location.
As we can see in the trailer, the chick holding the camera dedicates her presumably last message to someone named Ethan. She claims to have made some sort of important discovery that’s worth his attention, then goes on to state that she can’t let a strange woman catch her. We see the person that our narrator is talking about, escaping into a ruined Southern Plantation house just in time. It comes to the viewer’s attention that this place has seen better days, torn up and destroyed after gruesome events unfolded there. The narrator lady with the camera is stuck in a game of cat and mouse with the mysterious woman who is chasing her.
People who are at Gamescom will get to play through this hour long nightmare, meeting Marguerite Baker and another mysterious woman from a part of the main game (the sequence being shown off is slightly altered to avoid spoiling the overall story).
Resident Evil 7 arrives on January 24th 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Keep in touch with the website, Twitter, and Facebook for the latest news with the game.
