If you were alive and gaming back in the mid-1990s then you might recognize PaRappa the Rapper, one of the more prominent video game characters featured on the original PlayStation game console. Now the character is back again for a new Japanese animated show.
Details of the show are still a little scarce, but from what Polygon was able to gather, this will be an animated short with episodes running about ninety seconds long as part of a Japanese variety show known as Hi Poul.
Officially known as the PJ Berri no Mogu-Mogu Munya-Munya, viewers will watch PJ Berri along with PaRappa the Rapper in action. It’s likely we’ll also see a variety of other characters from the video game franchise such as Chop Chop Master Onion.
Unfortunately, there’s no word as to if this show will make its way outside of Japan. Likewise, with the reappearance of a PlayStation staple character, we’re curious to see if this will mean that another installment to the franchise is in the works.
So far there have only been two video game installments within the PaRappa the Rapper franchise, with the PlayStation Portable also receiving the first video game title. As of late, there has been a movement to see Sony release another installment, although if we’ll see a PaRappa the Rapper 3 remains to be seen.
