Master of Orion‘s reboot will be released on August 25th, publisher Wargaming announced. The game is a turn-based strategy game that has had no activity for more than a decade.
Wargaming purchased the rights to Master of Orion back in 2013 during an Atari bankruptcy auction and revealed they planned to release a graphiclly and mechanically superior version of the game last year. The Early Access release happened back in February.
Master of Orion is the first new game in the series since Master of Orion 3 back in 2003.
The gameplay has players exploring the galaxy seeking out resources while conquering enmemy alien planets. The original Master of Orion was launched by MicroProse in 1993 and has spawned two successful sequels.
Master of Orion for Windows PC will retail for $29.99 and will include a copy of 1997 realtime strategy game Total Annihilation if the player has or creates a Wargaming.net account.
A Collector’s Edition will also be released for $49.99, and this includes a digital art book, all three original Master of Orion games, soundtrack ships skins, and an additional alien race.
