The music of Grasshopper Manufacture’s and GungHo Online Entertainment’s game Let It Die will have a different kind of twist to the music soundtrack. Yamaoka (who has experience working on games like Contra, Gradius, and Silent Hill) wants it to be a companion piece, and to that end he collaborated with over 100 bands in order to arrange the songs you’ll hear in the game. But every one of the song titles will be the same: Let It Die. Learn what went into making this possible by watching the video they put up on their YouTube channel.
The free-to-play video game that is Let It Die takes place in a “extreme survival action” hack-and-slash city. The twist of it is that there’s a multiplayer element of sorts, where player death data manifests itself as AI opponents. There will also be some sort of smartphone companion app involved here too. The setting of it takes notable elements of both Western culture as well as Japan, mixing them together in this reality.
Let It Die comes out on PS4 sometime in 2016. For the latest news and updates check out the game’s website, Twitter, and Facebook.
