The Nintendo Treehouse event started at this E3 with a short gameplay video of the new Zelda game: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The trailer shows various environments we can explore in the game, open prairies, lakes, canyons, a ruined castle, and grasslands as far as the eyes can see.
We see Link armed with a sword, shield with the quiver of arrows hanging from his back. We also see him using a glider when he jumps off a cliff. The trailer also shows Link taming a wild horse by sneaking on it and jumping on its back. Link can also scale buildings, cliffs and climb trees now which opens much more opportunities for exploration.
Other cool things that were shows was Link chopping off a tree to create a bridge, diving into a lake with what seems to be a fishing spear, sneaking on a boar, setting fire to bushes, cooking nuts mushrooms (which makes them bounce around for some reason), shooting a beehive off a tree to scare a goblin away, and rolling boulder off a cliff to kill enemies.
Then The trailer showed some of Link’s new magical powers where he can raise blocks of water in solid form to create a platform. We also see him holding some sort of magical magnet to manipulate some things around the environment.
We get to see some of the combat as well. We see Link in a full suit of armor, fighting with a spear instead of a sword, slamming enemies with the shield, firing exploding arrows. The trailer ends with the legendary Master Sword stuck in stone looking rusty and worn out.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set for release on the Wii U and the Nintendo NX. No release date was announced.
