We might have to wait a bit longer for the Nintendo NX to see the light of day.
According to a report from Digitimes, the Nintendo NX mass production schedule is now slated for early 2017, pushed back from the original estimated middle of 2016 plans. Their sources state that this was due to Nintendo’s plans to add a virtual reality layer to the console/handheld video game integrated experience.
Further details about the device from the report reiterate a lot of what we already know. 5 to 7 inch display, with a controller and joystick for use as a mobile gaming device, but with the added ability to connect to televisions to act as a proper video game console system.
Nintendo has recently entered the mainstream mobile gaming space with their Miitomo app for iOS and Android devices, in addition to their Pokemon Go augmented reality game that’s scheduled to be released sometime this Summer, with more information coming out during the E3 conference week.
