Neil Druckmann has dropped heavy hints about The Last of Us.
Gene Park shared on social media that he interviewed Neil about the 3rd season of HBO’s The Last of Us. He said this:
I wasn’t involved in shaping this season’s creative direction, and Naughty Dog did not have a creative role in the direction of this season. So I can’t personally speak to how production is progressing.
It’s important for us to note that as the creator of the games, Naughty Dog is still the steward of this IP and even though this might be the end of this adaptation, we’re not done with ‘The Last of Us.’
There’s a couple projects in the works that, when the time is right, I’m very excited to talk about.
The fans may remember Neil saying in March 2025 that they should not bet on The Last of Us 3. But as recently as last April, Daniel Richtman hinted that Naughty Dog is actually working on a 3rd game alongside Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and a new Uncharted.
With the HBO show no longer occupying Neil’s time and focus, this is definitely not as far-fetched as it once seemed.
