Take-Two has filed for a new subpoena to Discord, with a major change.
The second subpoena is aimed towards one previously identified Discord user, and a new user. Take-Two has requested that the details of this subpoena be sealed, arguing:
Public disclosure of this information could compromise Take-Two’s ongoing investigation and even tip off the alleged infringers as to the nature and progress of Take-Two’s investigation and information Take-Two has gathered about the infringement.
Take-Two had prior subpoenas on Twitter and Microsoft granted for them. A week ago, Discord revealed that they still hadn’t received the first subpoena, but it is presumably still in effect.
The first Discord subpoenas asked for so much information on a large number of users (107,00 in one server) that they raised privacy issues. So how where they able to narrow it down to two Discord users?
There is a nonzero chance that the leads that the community themselves found could have successfully led Take-Two to the leakers. We would also remind our readers that there could be more leakers than Cyberleek.
