Video games, by their very nature and definition, are known to be unrealistic in sometimes the most basic of ways. One of the most egregious examples of this comes from first-person shooter titles and other games of this nature, where your main character can carry a seemingly unlimited amount of weaponry and never have it weigh them down. In fact, you never even see the weapons until you pull them out and start wielding them. GTA 6 has shown through its trailers that it’s trying to be a more realistic title, and some on Reddit are wondering if Rockstar will follow a more recent trend it started when it comes to weapons carrying restrictions:
“In every GTA series, we were able to hold an unlimited amount of weapons, even unrealistically heavy ones. Of course, that was because the games were more arcade-style.
However, in RDR2 we had a more realistic approach: the number of guns we could carry was limited, and we had to get our weapons from the horse saddle. This actually wasn’t the first time Rockstar did this — the same thing was in Max Payne 3, where the amount of guns you could carry was limited. Now, what I’m expecting in GTA 6 is that we’re going to be able to carry a limited number of guns, and we’ll have to change weapons from the car trunk.”
That would add a certain level of challenge to the game, as you’ll have to be more methodical with how you handle your weapons and ammo, especially in intense missions where every single bullet matters if you want to make it out alive.
Surprisingly, others were on board with this notion:
“I hope for a more realistic and gritty gta so I am in favour of it i hope it also carries over to gta online it will make combat more intense and realistic.”
“I would embrace limited carry in GTA.”
“I’m hoping it works well in combat. Obviously would be situational and depend on how and where you place your vehicle, but would be cool to pop your trunk open and pull out a mini gun or rpg and wreck.”
Whether this actually happens in the game or not is unclear, as we haven’t seen any gameplay footage from the title yet. Could Rockstar Games go this route? Sure, if they do want to stick to the “realistic vibe” they’ve been dropping so far. Only time will tell, though.
