Bad Robot Games Partners Up With Sony For Their Cooperative Shooter

December 4, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Mike Booth’s upcoming project is getting some help from PlayStation.

There have been some truly remarkable cooperative shooter games released over the years. One of those franchises that has continued to bring players in to this day is Left 4 Dead. The game was a massive hit at launch and even had a successful sequel, Left 4 Dead 2. The lead designer behind Left 4 Dead was Mike Booth, formerly the founder of Turtle Rock Studios. Currently, he is the chief creative officer at Bad Robot Games.

It wouldn’t be until 2020 that Mike Booth stepped into Bad Robot Games, where he landed the role of chief creative officer in 2022. However, we had known for a while that the developer had some ideas for his next video game project. That came in the form of a Reddit post Mike published, revealing that playtests would eventually be coming to players who sign up for the potential invitation.

Bad Robot Games Connects With PlayStation

If you don’t recall, it was back in September of this year that Mike Booth highlighted that he was working on his next game. Not much was unveiled beyond the fact that it was built on the foundations of what made Left 4 Dead special. So, players would need to go in with expectations on teamwork and some tension.

While we might still be a good way out from this game launch, a new press release from Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed their latest partnership. Unfortunately, this press release did not provide any further details about the game. Instead, it was mainly to highlight that Sony is lending a hand to produce and publish Bad Robot Games’ first internally developed title.

So, we might be waiting a little longer to see exactly what Mike Booth has in the works for us. Hopefully, it turns out to be incredible, just like the Left 4 Dead games. That said, this wouldn’t be the first time developers have tried to recapture that lightning in a bottle. After all, Mike’s former studio, Turtle Rock Studios, tried to deliver something similar with Back 4 Blood back in 2019, which didn’t quite hit the strides as Left 4 Dead managed.
