Tom Henderson Corroborates That Grand Theft Auto 6 Is “Content Ready”

We can be reasonable about the state of Grand Theft Auto 6.

A third source has chimed in on the state of Grand Theft Auto 6.

After Rockstar officially announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 was delayed, rumors spread that the delay was because of issues with development. The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) leaned on these claims in their protests against Rockstar, but they may not be well founded.

What Other Sources Said About The Delay

Jason Schreier got in front of these rumors. He stated that Rockstar did not delay the game because of their recent layoffs. Those layoffs were, of course, the reason Rockstar were currently facing protests.

Afterwards, Kiwi Talkz, AKA Reilly Reece, chimed in what he had heard. Reece was the first person to claim that Grand Theft Auto 6 is actually content complete.

Reece also went out of his way to debunk claims that the game is in a bad state and will even be delayed to 2027. And as he pointed out, Rockstar laid off 35 out of thousands of employees at the studio.

Tom Henderson Chimes In

Tom Henderson said this in the latest episode of the Insider Gaming podcast:

On the delay, I don’t think it’s gonna be delayed again.

I mean, this is a substantial delay, right? This is another six months. And I think even the employee in GTAForums said that the game is content ready.

And from what I’ve heard, it’s been content ready for a for a very long time. But like I said in a podcast not long ago; if there’s a single glitch, like somebody glitches through the door or something like that, people are going to run with it and it’s just going to be a bad look for them.

What Does Content Complete / Content Ready Mean?

You may imagine that filmmaking ends when the last date of shooting ends, but it’s not really that simple. Those clips need to go through editing, and the filmmakers need to get it through their producers and get ratings before they’re sure they’re done.

Video game development is even more complicated. A video game being content complete or content ready is a step behind from when a film ends shooting.

At this point, they have the whole game’s story done from beginning to end. They also know everything they want to add to the online component. But it’s still not complete enough to sell to gamers.

We imagine if Rockstar let some influencer play through the game, they can play through the ending. But there will be a lot of incomplete assets, and the game may not feel good to play.

And this is why Reece brought up the example of Cyberpunk 2077. Rockstar wants to sell a complete version of Grand Theft Auto 6. They also don’t want to face the consequences that CD Projekt RED faced when they failed their fans for that game’s release.
