Will Grand Theft Auto 6 Clash With Call Of Duty 2026?

November 7, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

We could be setting up for a clash of the gaming titans next Thanksgiving.

Some fans have brought up an interesting observation about the Grand Theft Auto 6 delay.

The Ghost Of Hope made a succinct reaction to Rockstar’s announcement on Twitter:

INFINITY WARD DOWNFALL INSHALLAH

In case you didn’t understand this meme, we’re going to spell it out for you. Infinity Ward is one of the main studios on the Call of Duty franchise. Call of Duty games have been releasing on November for years.

So The Ghost Of Hope is joking that Infinity Ward’s downfall is imminent because it’s now going head to head against Grand Theft Auto 6.

Wait, Infinity Ward Is Making Call of Duty 2026?

Activision has not officially announced that Infinity Ward is making the 2026 Call of Duty. The Ghost Of Hope is alluding to rumors that he spread all the way back in December 2024.

This year, he updated us with claims that the 2026 game will be set in Korea. You will be stopping Makarov and Konni Group from launching a new world war by planting a false flag operation.

While none of these rumors have been confirmed, Activision is notoriously lax at denying rumors. Most leaks about the franchise turn out to be true.

So, unless this game gets delayed for unknown reasons and Activision pushes a different project forward, it’s safe to assume this the 2026 Call of Duty.

But even if it turns out to be a different game that Activision releases, the question is the same:

Which Side Are You On? Grand Theft Auto Vs. Call Of Duty?

Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto are not strictly in the same video game genre. We are sure that there are Call of Duty fans and Grand Theft Auto fans who don’t care about either game.

But these two are as big as video game franchises come and go. There is definitely a huge overlap between the two communities, and those gamers will have to choose to play one.

Of course, a lot of those gamers will buy both games because they can. But both franchises also now use live service models to sustain long term profitability.

Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto are already competing on that live service front. So you can rest assured that if Rockstar sticks to this release date, and Activision doesn’t budge, there will be a real clash of the video game heavyweights.

While the delay was certainly disappointing, we can’t deny we’re now invested in seeing who would win this one-on-one.
