Fallout 76 Team Talks Wasteland Synergy As They Plan TV Show Tie-Ins

July 10, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

I don’t want to set the world on fire. But someone needs to get me Fallout season 2 already.

Give me the next season of Fallout already. I’m ready to sit in and watch this cast of characters go about their journey in the wasteland. Amazon hasn’t announced a release date yet for its second season. We know it’s coming, and hopefully, we’ll get to sit in and watch what the production team has cooked up for us before the year wraps. That said, we do have Fallout 76 to help scratch that itch if you’re keen on wandering the wasteland yourself.

The Fallout 76 team also just released a new update to the game. With this update, players can sit back and start fishing in the various ponds, lakes, and rivers on the map. However, we’re also learning that there might be some more exciting updates coming to the game that might correlate with the TV series. This comes from an interview between Variety and the creative director behind Fallout 76, Jon Rush.

During Summer Game Fest, Variety had the chance to speak with Jon Rush about the game and the TV series. Jon was quick to remind everyone that the game and TV show are actually on two opposite ends of the timeline. The game is set the farthest back in time within the franchise, while the TV show is set the farthest into the future.

I think a distinct trait of the ‘Fallout 76’ game is that we’re the furthest back in time. And it’s kind of funny, because the show’s the furthest into the future. So there’s a lot of room where we don’t necessarily need to overlap. There are some things that we could overlap the stories ,that could exist, but we largely try to keep those pretty simple.

As mentioned, the game still allows for some overlap if the two teams wish. Later, Jon Rush spoke about how they maintain contact with the production team. More specifically, they have plans in place for seasonal releases of the show. Unfortunately, they are not going to reveal their hands just yet. We’ll have to wait for the show to come back around to see what Fallout 76 might offer for fans of the show.

So folks see the show and want more of that same kind of story, and they’re going to come into ’76,’ they’re going to come into ‘Fallout 4,’ or come into ‘Fallout 3.’ Lining things up with the seasonal releases of the show, it’s stuff that we talk about all the time, and we do have plans for things here and there. I’m not going to go into detail on any of those now, but the two teams do talk to one another.

For now, we’ll have to sit by and wait for when we’ll see Amazon bring the wasteland back into the limelight. We already know a third season is confirmed, while the second season wrapped up filming earlier this year. So, fingers crossed, we’ll start seeing marketing materials come out to hype up our next adventure with Lucy and the gang.
