Nintendo has announced certain changes to its articles of incorporation, the document outlining the company’s reason for existence. The changes are not detailed specifically but the move opens the possibility for the company revisiting its axed quality of life devices.
Two additions have been added which specifically refer to the platform holder’s purpose. These additions read “Development, manufacturing and sale of medical devices and health devices” and “Development, manufacturing and sale of computer software.”
An existing section of the document already refers to the “Production, manufacturing and sale of contents such as games, images, and music” so the inclusion of computer software is interesting.
These changes, which also refer to organisational changes referring to an audit and supervisory committee, are only proposed at this point. They’ll need to be ratified during the annual shareholders meeting which is scheduled for June 29th, 2016.

The company’s next console, the Nintendo NX, will be released in March 2017.
