Rumor: Capcom Is Set To Reveal Pragmata Again, Two Years After It Was Supposed To Come Out

June 4, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Looking forward to finding out what a Pragmata even is.

Capcom may be set to make a huge announcement soon.

Dusk Golem made this claim on Twitter:

Pragmata is being re-revealed either tomorrow or on Friday. Personally I’m quite stoked for it!

Pragmata was originally revealed in the PlayStation 5 The Future Of Gaming Show all the way back in 2020. This is another piece of risk taking for Capcom – an original IP action adventure with science fiction themes set on the moon. A year later, Capcom announced they were delaying Pragmata to 2023, but of course, it didn’t actually get released.

The period from 2021 to 2023 was quite successful for Capcom. They released the likes of Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil Village, and Monster Hunter Rise within this time, all major projects that occupied the company’s time.

Instead of Pragmata, Capcom went ahead with releasing Exoprimal in 2023, a PVPVE shooter where players were competing with each other to take down massive hordes of dinosaurs.

While it’s understandable if Capcom decided to sit on Pragmata for a few years, their failure to communicate its progress with the public was definitely concerning. Some fans probably remember Deep Down, an action RPG that would have been a showcase for Capcom’s proprietary Panta Rhei engine.

While Capcom shared sporadic updates about Deep Down and Panta Rhei, they would eventually stop talking about it. Over a decade after Capcom announced Deep Down, the company has yet to officially cancel the title, but the common consensus is the project has been abandoned.

This is speculation on our end, but it may be that Capcom lost interest in Deep Down and the Panta Rhei engine in favor of last year’s Dragon’s Dogma 2. This project was made using the now very popular and powerful RE Engine, and designed as a multiplatform title. Deep Down’s fate seemed to be tied to Panta Rhei, which as far as we know was built for PlayStation 4. In plain English, the technology for this game simply slipped behind the times and Capcom has moved on.

At least Pragmata is a bit more recent, and it’s easier to see that Capcom would have been reworking and tweaking this project out of public view. We didn’t even get to see the game’s full concept at the time. So if they reveal the game now, it may already be a completely different vision.

Capcom has demonstrated with Exoprimal and  Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess that they’re still willing to take risks. Just how risky or safe Pragmata is, we would definitely look forward to seeing it again, and soon.
