Valve has announced that its competitive multiplayer FPS Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be released this Summer.
Global Offensive is a refresh of Counter-Strike, which is now over a decade old. It aims to bring back the competitive qualities of CS 1.6, which were lost in the game's iteration with Condition Zero and Counter-Strike: Source.
Some changes have been made to the formula, including the addition of Molotov cocktails and tweaks with aiming, but the game's physics remain largely the same.
In addition to all new graphics, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive also offers global leaderboards, new gameplay modes, and new maps.
Hidden Path Entertainment is currently developing the game under the direction of Valve and is currently in closed beta on the PC. In addition to the PC, the game is set for release on the PSN, XBLA and Mac via Steam.
