Cave Interactive Working on Two PS Vita Titles

A port of social game Shirotsuku and a brand new shooter are headed for Sony’s new handheld.

Cave Interactive, the Japanese studio best known for their work on the popular bullet hell series DeathSmiles, has announced that they'll be bringing two games to Sony's new PlayStation Vita.

The first title, Shirotsuku, is a port of their popular social game, which allows players to become a daimyo and build up their own castle kingdom, then participate in online PvP battles against other players. The port will take advantage of the Vita's geo-location feature, allowing you to check in at various real-world locales to earn in-game items.

The second project is a still untitled "shooting game." Given Cave's history, it's safe to assume that means a sidescrolling shoot-em up, rather than, say, a Call of Duty clone. Details are scarce, but the title promises to take advantage of the Vita's "original features," so we can probably expect something that'd designed with the handheld's touch and tilt capabilites in mind, perhaps in the vein of the recent iOS port of Deathsmiles.

Dates and localization details are still TBD for both games, so there's a chance neither one will ever surface outside of Japan, but here's to hoping. If there's two things the Vita's launch line-up is lacking, it's schoolgirls who fly through the air shooting an ungodly amount of bullets.
