Nash Weedle, a leaker who has scored a decent track record with the Switch 2, suggests that Nintendo isn’t done with their announcements for the year.

Nash Weedle made several accurate rumors and leaks around the Switch 2, but we’ll focus on one particularly impressive pick. He accurately leaked Elden Ring would be coming to the console, alongside Necro Felipe of Universo Nintendo. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was confirmed to come to the Switch 2 complete with the expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.
Over the weekend Nash Weedle said on Twitter that Nintendo still has one more surprise for this year. He did not drop any hint or indication of what this could be, but given the other rumors that he has shared in the past, it could be wild indeed.
Back in September 2023, Nash Weedle claimed that Nintendo is working on VR in earnest. At that time, he said, Nintendo already had a working prototype, and instead of being full VR, it would be a mixed reality headset. This VR device would be standalone hardware for the Switch 2, and would feature MicroLED displays. Subsequently Nash Weedle claimed that Google was involved in production of the device.
That’s certainly as wild a rumor as we have received about the Switch 2. What may surprise you to learn is that this rumor has some real life evidence to back it up.
As we reported on from the end of last year, multiple Nintendo patents were appearing on the US Patent and Trade Office. These patents clearly indicated that Nintendo was working on VR and mixed reality technology. Correlation does not necessarily mean causation, and Nintendo may simply file patents they aren’t acting on, in anticipation that they may get to use them in the future. But we’re pointing this out to make it clear that these Nintendo VR rumors are, in fact, not lacking in real life basis.
But then, Nash Weedle has other Switch 2 related rumors that haven’t been confirmed yet, such as the claim that the Switch 2 has some performance mode. That sounds like a far more credible surprise than VR. But it’s entirely possible both rumors are true, or that both rumors are false. With all the criticism that can be rightfully leveled at Nintendo for their communication and marketing for the Switch 2 at launch, they still hold the proverbial cards. So they absolutely could still have some new product or service they haven’t announced yet, and it’s possible that it isn’t even related to the Switch 2. But if there’s something else left to share, this week’s Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct might be the time to share it.
