To some, four weeks won’t sound like a long time. After all, we just got done with a certain “four-week period” called “February,” and have said it “flew by” without much issue. However, these next four weeks will feel particularly long to Nintendo fans, as they have to wait that period until the Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct drops. Obviously, the reason that this is an important moment is because this is where The Big N will go and hopefully reveal many pieces of software that will be part of the system’s launch and launch window. Everyone expects big things, and for Nintendo to deliver huge things.
What makes the anticipation even greater is that there are tons of rumors and speculation about what will be revealed and announced, and yet, we only know one definitive 1st party title that will be on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. Many predict that Nintendo will attempt to “overload” the system’s launch period to ensure that people come to buy the system, and that might not be the worst of strategies. After all, the system is incredibly hyped right now. Sure, we’ve only seen one video of it, but that hardly matters. Gamers are expecting another legendary system, not unlike what we had with the OG Switch, and the idea that Nintendo will attempt to go “even bigger than the first Switch” is an enticing one.
The other element that fans can’t wait to see for multiple reasons is the news about the system’s release date and the price of the console. On the release date front, gamers are just excited to find out when they’ll be able to get the console for themselves. On the price front, that actually dips its toes into the geopolitical spectrum, as tariffs could potentially raise the price of the console beyond what it was going to be initially. Nintendo’s president has admitted that the company will keep an eye on the tariff situation. However, he also noted that their consoles aren’t solely manufactured in places where the tariffs affect prices. Only time will tell how it plays out on that front.
Finally, it’s important to note that while Sony and Microsoft are either treading water or arguably floundering, Nintendo has been thriving for years. So, by ensuring that the upcoming Nintendo Direct is amazing and has plenty of games for gamers to talk about, this could help raise them up on their pedestal even higher.
