Heads Up: Devil May Cry Arrives On Netflix This April 3

February 27, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

It’s time for Devil May Cry to get the adaptation treatment.

What a time to be living in, right? There are some truly solid adaptations coming out of video games. While some heavy hitters have firmly established themselves in the various markets worldwide right now, even more are being worked on. One of those that looks to see a big impact once it drops is Devil May Cry. Did you know we’re getting a Netflix series in a few months?

As mentioned, we’ve seen some incredible adaptations come out on the market. We have HBO’s The Last of Us and Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout series to point towards. Netflix is gearing up to release another animated video game adaptation into the service. We’ve known for a little while now that Devil May Cry was in the works. However, the official Devil May Cry X account was posted today to remind everyone that we’re still on track.

The series is set to release on April 3, 2025, with eight episodes. Hopefully, those eight episodes will be solid and enjoyable to fans, as we might see a few season arcs come out for this IP. However, don’t count on these adaptations to directly adapt video games. Instead, it looks like we’re getting a different kind of storyline that still follows Dante.

If you haven’t played the games, Devil May Cry has been around since 2001 and follows a demon hunter. Essentially, in the games, you’re battling off demons from invading the world. Of course, we haven’t seen a new game release from Capcom in a minute. The last major release came in 2019 with Devil May Cry 5.

Filmmaker Aditya Shankar is the man behind this project. If his name doesn’t sound familiar, you might recognize his other work on Netflix. He was the showrunner behind Castlevania, another popular animated Netflix series based on Konami’s Castlevania IP. For now, while we wait for April 3, you can view a trailer for the series in the video embedded below.
