If you were eager to dive into Sonic Rumble, get ready for some disappointment. We’re finding out today that the development team behind the project needs a little more time. As a result, the game has officially been delayed. The global launch is now slated to happen later this Spring.
If you’re unfamiliar with Sonic Rumble, this is an upcoming battle royale-type game. You’ll find it very similar to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, but instead, we’re getting the Sonic the Hedgehog IP. So, you can expect obstacle courses and other wacky mini-games in an attempt to chop down the active players from 32 to just a solo winner. Likewise, this is going to be a free-to-play game. So that might make it a little more enticing to check out if you’re not the biggest Sonic fan out there. But the launch is being pushed back.
Thanks to VGC, we’re learning that Sonic Rumble has been pushed to sometime this Spring. Initially, the launch was planned for sometime during the winter, but this delay should help fine-tune the game. With a wide cast of characters, one of the changes we should see is characters getting specific skills. Likewise, developers can continue developing new game mechanics and features.
Of course, certain markets have already been enjoying the game through a pre-launch build. The global launch will finally allow everyone to try the game out. As it stands, the game is only slated to land on three platforms: iOS, Android, and PC.
Unfortunately, we’re not given any insight into whether we’ll also see the game land on consoles. However, depending on how well the game is received on mobile and PC platforms, Sega might be encouraged to bring ports of the game over. At any rate, while we wait for the launch date to be unveiled, you can view the official game trailer in the video embedded below.
