Another weekend has come and gone, and with this particular weekend came the latest Splatfest, which was dubbed the “Frosty Fest” by Splatoon 3. That was apt, as we are in the winter season in places like the United States, and there have been some snowstorms recently. Regardless, the theme of the latest Splatfest was about what “would make you happiest?” The options were money, experiences, and presents. The battles have all been tallied and the result is that Team Presents won the day. Some might say that this is a shocking victory, but when you think about it, who doesn’t like getting presents?
As you can see in the results screens above, not only did Team Presents win, they won rather big, with Team Experiences coming in second and Team Money coming in last. That might be the biggest surprise of all because money is something that many people want so that they can be happy in the short and long term by not having to worry about paying bills or wondering if they’ll be able to afford something. Sure enough, if you look at the more detailed breakdowns of the stats, you’ll find that Team Money did get the popular vote; it just didn’t amount to any other categories going in their favor.
Ironically, this is the “true nature” of something like Splatoon 3 with its Splatfests. There are many ways that one could go, and yet, consistently, there are upsets and unexpected results simply based on how the group behind a certain topic plays harder and gets victories more than other teams. No, it’s not “rigged” in one way or another, but some Spaltfest players truly “show out” for their side, and it really shows.
Oh, and for those who keep track of such things, Big Man is apparently on a serious winning streak when it comes to these “special themed Splatfests.” Perhaps players have noticed that and continue to join his side. Just saying.
Regardless, with the new year now upon us, the question will not be about when Nintendo announces the fourth game in the series. Many expect it to be coming it this year due to hos Nintendo has rushed out sequels in the past, including doing the first and second games on Wii U and Switch within a very small amount of time.
If it were to come out this year, it would definitely be one of the biggest releases for the system in 2025.
