Could Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition Get A New Trailer This Week?

January 6, 2025 by Todd Black

Um…please and thank you?

Many fans are eager to see the release of the Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch. The game is one of the last “big games” coming to the Switch before the transition to the Switch 2. Just as important, it’s the “last great Wii U port” that fans have been begging for over the last several years. Seriously, the game was the “last of its kind,” and now the entire series from Monolith Soft will be on the Nintendo Switch. It’s really cool! However, since its announcement, Nintendo hasn’t shown it off, but that could be changing soon.

The reason for this comes from Pyoro, who is one of the more well-known and rather accurate Nintendo leakers. On Twitter, they gave an emoji tease/hint that the game could get an announcement of some kind this week. Obviously, just seeing a smiling face isn’t enough to confirm anything or to prove that they know anything other than what they’ve heard.

One thing that should be noted, though, is that the game is set for release on March 20th, which means we’re a little over 2 months away from its arrival. That matters because Nintendo tends to do “overview trailers” and other drops of that nature to help get gamers ready for the title that’s coming.

This might go double for this game for two reasons. First, Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition is a port of a Wii U game that came out in 2015! That means that it’s been almost a decade since its first release, which means that many people wouldn’t have played it when it came out and thus need a “refresher course” on what it’s about.

Second, the game came out while the Monolith Soft franchise was still in its infancy. It was only after the Switch games released, and the first entry was remade for it, that the franchise truly took off. So, one could argue that the game will have more of a chance for success now than ever before. Another element to cover here is that this game is far different from the other three titles.

The “mainline” games all have a fantasy RPG aesthetic and storylines to match. However, the Wii U title was decidedly more sci-fi in nature and played that up hard, including with its cliffhanger that could be resolved in the game’s new story content.

The only way to know if Pyoro is right, though, is to wait and see what Nintendo does this week.
