We’re seeing more of a boom with video games being adapted into various television shows and blockbuster movies. At one time, these adaptations were far from good, and fans of the IP were disappointed in some directions directors took the adaptation. However, that’s changed, and we’ve seen some great examples of filmmakers faithfully adapting these incredible storylines. One of the more recent releases that hit streaming was Secret Level.
If you’re unfamiliar with Secret Level, this Amazon Prime series focuses on short storylines adapted from various video game IPs. These bite-size episodes give fans an anthology to enjoy, but some fans might have been questioning why some IPs were not featured over others. A couple of IPs that would have come to fruition if it was up to the folks behind Secret Level would have been Doom and Halo.
Secret Level creators Tim Miller and Dave Wilson recently appeared on Collider, where the duo noted that they had pitched an idea to feature a crossover episode featuring both Doom and Halo. However, after pitching the idea, it seems that Microsoft wasn’t interested in offering these IPs for the show.
It’s unclear why Microsoft opted to avoid this route. At any rate, we know a second season is in the works, and after seeing the first season, Microsoft could be persuaded to allow this idea to come out. But that’s just speculation on my part. After all, we have no clue what Microsoft plans for Halo next. The franchise might be waiting on the next installment, but when it comes to Doom, we know that the next game from id Software is Doom: The Dark Ages, which is set to launch later this year.
Meanwhile, Secret Level has quite a few other IPs featured. Everything from Pac-Man, The Outer Worlds 2, Mega Man, to even Sony’s failed Concord IP has an episode. You can view these episodes in full now on the Amazon Prime Video subscription service.
