Visions of Mana Reveals New Key Art

July 2, 2024 by Carley Garcia

The fifth title in the series releases next month.

Visions of Mana, the fifth main title in the Mana series, is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on August 29. Ahead of the game’s release next month, some new key art of the party member Julei has been revealed by Square Enix.

Announced in December of last year, Visions of Mana will be the first mainline game in the series since 2006.

A recent trailer for the game highlighted five playable party members, each of which has a distinct fighting style. As the player continues through the title, more advanced character classes become available.

“In Tianeea, the Fire Village, everyone is preparing to celebrate the coming of the Faerie and the naming of an “alm.” Every four years, alms from around the world are chosen to travel to the Tree of Mana and rejuvenate the flow of mana power. A soul guard is also chosen to ensure the alms’ safe pilgrimage. Val is one such guard,” the game’s description reads.

The Mana series began with Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy, setting the series up as a side story to Square’s flagship franchise Final Fantasy. However, this changed with the second installment, Secret of Mana, as it became its own series.

In an interview with producer Masaru Oyamada, the intent behind the title was made clear, seeming to be in line with past releases in the series.

“When we think about the Mana series, a core concept has always been the theme of encountering and meeting new people, but also bidding farewell and parting ways with others,” Oyamada said to Noisy Pixel. “Even in this game, we have always felt that even though some of the characters carry a very heavy burden brought on by fate, we’re still depicting them in a way that allows you to understand their motivations and struggles, which was really important to us.”

Visions of Mana will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on August 29.
