A popular Brazilian leaker has revealed details about the upcoming schedule for Nintendo’s Switch and Switch 2 presentations.
But before we get to that, it turns out we have been mistaken this whole time. This ‘leaker’, commonly referred to as Brazil, recently made an English language video, after some fans went through the trouble of translating his Portuguese language video, on this same topic.
He revealed that he’s actually been working for gaming websites in his native Brazil for years, and has even covered several E3s. His YouTube handle is tvph, but after some quick searching, we believe his name is Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe. We’ll just refer to him as tvph moving forward.
So, tvph shared these details in this video, but for your convenience, we’ll summarize his main points below.
He starts things off by addressing some wild speculation based on Furukawa’s official announcement on Twitter. He reassured us that Nintendo isn’t planning to reveal it all the way back in March 2025, to release in 2026. His sources assured him that the plan is still to release the console in March 2025, so it will also be in this fiscal year.
The plan is to make their first reveals of the Switch 2 like the Switch 1, in the fall. That would place it sometime between September to November 2024, at the latest. The full reveal will then happen in January 2025.
As for the June Direct, tvph believes that it would be the perfect time to reveal Metroid Prime 4. He doesn’t have any insider information about the game, which implies that Nintendo has kept this one a secret even within the company.
He won’t name any specific titles, but says that the rest of the Switch lineup will comprise of even more remasters. It will certainly be interesting if we get more titles like Another Code: Recollection, a cult favorite that still didn’t find a huge audience in its rerelease, but certainly kept their fans happy.
The June Direct will be the last hurrah for the Switch 1, so to speak, but there are some more Switch 1 presentations after that. There is an Indie World coming in August, and there may be partner Directs with third parties. Again, tvph has no additional information here, but that would be a perfect opportunity for Microsoft to share the games they would publish on Nintendo’s platforms, such as the contractually mandated Call of Duty title, and possibly, Hi-Fi Rush.
Speaking of which, tvph also claims that the second half of 2024 will see the announcements of the major multiplatform games that are coming to the Switch 2. He doesn’t have a timeframe, but obviously, that would give third parties ample time to market their games before the console actually releases. And in case you didn’t realize it, the second half of 2024 starts next month, in June.
Finally, tvph claims that Nintendo has lied before, so they may talk about the Switch 2 in the last Switch 1 Direct. But given the need to sell their final Switch 1 games, it would not make sense for them to do so.
They would have to be supremely confident of their portfolio if they dared to. But also, it just makes more sense to separate their marketing for the two products, as the Switch 1 will conveniently slide as the budget option, while the hungry hardcore gamers get their new hardware.
