This gorgeous game from Tokyo RPG Factory, and published by Square Enix, already came out on Playstation 4 and Vita in Japan on February 18th of this year.
But a new trailer released today showed the game has an upcoming western release for July 19th.
From their website:
I Am Setsuna introduces the authentic JRPG style of yesteryear to PlayStation®4 and Steam! Journey with Setsuna as she prepares to make the ultimate sacrifice and save the people of her land. A powerfully nostalgic experience, blending a classic style of story-telling, battle system and gameplay.
Setsuna lives on an island where a yearly sacrifice is made to fiend. But one year the fiend grew hungry before the scheduled feeding time had arrived. Setsuna offers to go the farthest land and take part in the ceremony of sacrifice.
The game advertises itself on the comparisons to Chrono Trigger‘s battle system. It’s really aiming to try and give that classic experience on today’s hardware.
Today, the Square Enix Twitch channel livestreamed gameplay of the English version for the first time.
It’s unknown whether or not the Vita version will be released for the West. But an interview done in March by USGamer revealed “Of course, there is a large Vita market in Japan. If there is a swell of demand in North America, though, we will consider it.”
