New rumors have started swirling about the latest update to The Elder Scrolls Online, after Bethesda teases a major presentation.
After the Xbox Developer Direct, Bethesda will have a 1 PM PT stream where they will show ‘a brand-new Elder Scrolls adventure.’ They have shared a new trailer teasing the upcoming announcement, but if the rumors are true, we already know much more about it now.
As shared on reddit by user PalwaJoko, the latest The Elder Scrolls Online chapter is called Gold Road. This was discovered when some upcoming YouTube videos on Bethesda’s official YouTube channel briefly got leaked.
Based on the screenshot shared from YouTube, Gold Road will have an exclusive mount and pet. There will also be a new activity, or action, called Scribing.
PalwaJoko ties this up to rumored leaks from December, that had this description of upcoming The Elder Scrolls Online content:
“A forgotten Daedric Prince has returned, bringing chaos to the West Weald! Explore a new zone and defend the city of Skingrad, first encountered in TES IV: Oblivion, now beset by a dangerous Daedric Cult and the encroaching wilds of Valenwood. Customize your skills like never before with the new Scribing system and create your own one-of-a-king(?) playstyle.
Tackle two new dungeons with ties to Oblivion: Oathsworn Pit and Bedlam Veil. Includes the DLC game pack, Ashbone Sabre Cat Mount, Ashbone Echalette pet, and more!
Two new dungeons await in this exciting update! From the Orc training ground of Oathsworn Pit to the far reaches of Oblivion and Bedlam Veil, where Fa-Nuit-Hen stores the spoils won in the Maelstrom, trouble brews and new enemies emerge from the shadows.
From deep in the archives of the Order of the Lamp comes this mystifying orb. Research hints it will help you in your travels, but there’s only one way to be sure. Snag this artifact, along with the 25 Order of the Lamp Crates that come in this bundle.”
Admittedly, the fact that Scribing was described here and was found in the small leak lends credence that all of it is accurate. Bethesda is not likely to have made fake leaks as well – they have a loyal fanbase that will play their expansions, regardless of what they have on offer.
Much like with Square Enix and the Final Fantasy XIV community, Bethesda may still be hoping to expand the The Elder Scrolls Online community. But the lion’s share of their revenue will still be coming from their most loyal fans, effectively their whales. This at least sounds interesting enough that some of those loyalists could convince new friends to join in.
