Final Fantasy 15 game director Hajime Tabata has told Famitsu, translated via Examiner, that players will likely need to invest up 50 hours to complete the game.
“We expect 40 to 50 hours to reach the end. But, to be honest, I have no idea…! The story has been split up into chapters, but a section presumed to take an hour can end up taking far longer. I would expect the average time to be a bit longer,” Tabata informed Famitsu.
His comments echo those he made back in March when he said the title features “more volume” than originally anticipated.
Of course, some players will no doubt choose to blast through the game focusing as narrowly as possible on the storyline while others will explore every optional quest and additional facet of the game they can. No matter which style of gamer you are, Final Fantasy 15 is surely going to take up a lot of your time when you pick it up.
Tabata went on to explain that the development team based the game on what they want players to experience when you get your hands on the game.
“There are many different ways to approach game development, such as starting with the game’s core mechanics, or by creating the game’s setting first. For [Final Fantasy 15], we first asked ourselves what we wanted the player to feel, and this drove our decisions about the mechanics, required tech, and art style,” Tabata explained.
Final Fantasy 15 is set for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 30th, 2016.
