Bloober Tea, has shared an unusual, but positive, update, about Silent Hill 2 Remake.
In a tweet a few hours ago, they shared this message:
“As Bloober Team, we are proud to be a part of Konami’s plans for the Silent Hill franchise. Alongside our partner,we are diligently working to ensure that Silent Hill 2 remake attains the highest quality.
On behalf of our development team, we would like to clarify that the production is progressing smoothly and in accordance with our schedule. We understand that many players around the world are eagerly anticipating news about the game, and we appreciate your dedication.
However, we kindly ask for a bit more patience. Once Konami, as the game’s publisher, shares more information, we are confident that the wait will be worthwhile.
Thank you for your understanding and support!”
This has been a rapid follow up after they replied to a fan on Twitter on this same question. Essentially, Bloober is simply explaining that Konami calls the shots as the publisher. This means that Konami, not Bloober, gets to choose if they can share updates on Silent Hill 2 Remake with the fans or not.
Konami, of course, paid Bloober to develop the game, and they are also in charge of the game’s promotion and marketing. If we were to be honest about it, Bloober having to simply explain the game is being worked on amidst rumors it was cancelled is so unnecessary.
We have covered rumors of games getting cancelled behind the scenes before. There is a network among reporters and insiders so that those who we consider ‘reputable’ when it comes to such rumors will be truthful to us. At the same time, you as the reader should know that these reporters often know of even more rumors, and they choose not to report on them at all.
That’s because the bigger share of rumors that spread around are just idle gossip. The point of reporters finding insiders to share information with them is to make sure they won’t waste our time with it. Obviously we shouldn’t be doing the same ourselves.
But there’s another side to this, and it’s the way game marketing is changing. If, as children, or young adults, some gamers were used to getting previews of games that would be arriving in a year’s time, it just doesn’t work like that anymore. Games have extended in development cycles from one year to five. Subsequently, it makes more sense to market games only in the last two months before they release. That some games still have some teasers months and years before does not change this fact.
So in this case we really should just wait on Konami for when they decide to show us what Bloober has done with Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Silent Hill 2 Remake is planned for release on Windows and PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive.
