Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is easily one of the more anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusives coming out. From the talented team at Insomniac Games, our next iteration of the franchise series is nearly here. Of course, there is always the fear that something would delay this game further back into the 2023 calendar year. However, that’s not the case because today, we got the official word that the development team has officially reached the fabled gold status for their game project.
Now, if you don’t know what going gold means, we can help. Going gold is a huge milestone and something that every development team strives to reach with their projects. Essentially, getting the gold status means that the developers are done with the game build. It’s reached a point where the game can now be mass-produced and shipped out to retailers worldwide. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the studios are entirely done with the game. We typically see studios continue working on the project and even create patches ahead of the game’s launch to iron out any bugs or technical issues that pop up.
We don’t know if that will be the case for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. While we might not have a day one patch, this game is set to launch on October 20, 2023. Now, these announcements from studios typically come with a text post and maybe an image of the team celebrating their milestone. However, Insomniac Games has a few guest speakers to chime in and hype up the milestone. The actors portraying Miles Morales, Peter Parker, Mary Jane, and Venom offer a few words in a video.
You can view that video in the post embedded above from the Insomniac Games X account. Again, we don’t have long of a wait to endure before we can get our hands on the latest Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 title. This game is set to launch on October 20, 2023. You’ll find the game available exclusively for the PlayStation 5 when it is released. Meanwhile, the narrative will pick up after the events of both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. We’ll follow Peter Parker and Miles Morales on a new quest to save New York City as they deal with the Venom symbiote along with Kraven the Hunter. While we wait for the game to arrive, you can check out a trailer for the upcoming title in the video we have embedded below.
